Candy Topiaries

For this cute decor piece ( no!!! the kids can not eat the candy!! unless they love melted glue sweet taste:0), you will need:
- Candy  ( I used jelly beans and heart candies for valentines, but jujubes work well I guess)
-Hot glue gun/glue sticks ( lots of them)
- Large, medium or small size foam balls. I used small and medium sizes
-Wooden dowels
-Ceramic vases or any kind of container you want to plant your candy trees in. I was going to get ceramic vases and paint them with craft paint but luckily I found these cute and already painted  citronella vase candles for 2 dollars each and they worked just perfect. The candle even worked and a place to stick the dowel into in a secure way. Sadly, I only realized this when I was finishing my last tree:0( . For the first ones I ( DAAAAA) removed the wax, put rocks  to make it heavy , (DAAAAAAAA) and covered with half a  foam ball (DAAAAAAA)
-Easter grass

Pretty straightforward stuff....just start attaching the candy to the foam ball. Three tips:
Work fast ( the glue dries really fast on the foam) ,  use a generous amount and lay your ball on a cup or bowl while you do that. Makes it easier than simply  hold it.
 Just keep  doing it....
Keep on doing....gotta be a bit patient...final result is cute..

LEAVE a space on the bottom to insert the wooden dowel, girl!
With  hot glue, attach the easter grass

For the candy heart tree...same tedious ( remember remember REMEMBER , final result IS CUTE and worthwhile!) process. Ah, I also painted the dowels with white craft paint .

SEE???  Cuteness on the table!!!

Surprising fact: NOT ONE little guest tried to lick or eat them!!

  2. These are too precious. They reminded me of the gumdrop tree my mom made one Christmas when I was little. It was all I could do to keep myself from eating it! Thanks for sharing!
