Adding Colour to Thrift Store Crates

I was looking for some shelving units to display my mason jars in my table at the craft fairs.
Did not hve much look finding those shelving units or anything like it, but found these crates at the thrift store for $1.99 each. A bit pricey I thought, but they were perfect!
From this...
To this!
Started out with  one coat of Krylon spray paint ( Cerulean Blue) .Very plain..no charm! This left them begging for something else! Not to worry...
Adding my walnut gel stain
I left the stain longer  on the corners before wiping in order to have a more concentrated colour on those sides
Ready to be wiped
With and without the stain
After wiping

Still deciding  if I should attach them on top of each other or not...For now they are loose. I used them last week and they worked that  way. Nobody knocked them down.
Another big win  for thrift stores, uh?

Restoring a Thrifted Mirror

I got this mirror from the thrift store for $ 3.99 and I think it is a perfect one to use in my craft table at the craft fairs. Love the shape. I love everything oval. For  my customers to see how pretty they are with my hair accessories:)
Quick sanding and 2 coats of Krylon spray paint
Some distressing  and this is it.

Back to School Revamped Desk

School days are quickly approaching and I am so glad I got this project finished.
Sofia's desk! Yes, now my baby (!!??) is going to grade 1 and I thought she needed/deserved a little study corner of her own.
I found this beautiful roll top desk on Kijiji for 20 dollars. Real wood. Heavy. Needing some TLC.
I primed it with Kilz primer, and painted it with Behr Swiss Coffee.
Distressed a bit... no, distressed a lot!
I tried a balck knob for new hardware but for some reason it did not click to me.

Found these bronzed color square ones at Home Depot and they clicked:)

I painted the pull out board with chalkboard spray paint so Sofia can write, do her math, her drawings, etc.

This dollar store message board was attached to the door for her/my sweet  little notes

Window Seat

I just found a better place for my newly re-purposed coffee table/ bench... it is now a window seat. Perfect.

I can not believe the price tag!! You girls out there who like embroidering know how much these little things cost!
And now....the jewel of the day:
It is sooo sturdy and NEW and perfect in all aspects...just what needed!

GASP again!
Grand total: 6 dollars! GASP!

Why I love Thrift Stores - I

One simple reason I love thrifting and thrift stores:
Instead of paying $ 29 bucks for a Bible cover ...
I find a lovely leather make up case for $.99 cents. And new!

That includes pencil holders ( bonus!!). And handles ( did I say "bonus" again??)
And  this just makes my day!
